The first recordings of singular sequences in the compilation "Coming and Going" were produced in 1995. Fritz Grohs collected related substantives joined by an "and" during parties in his studio, and read various stories with remarks such as: "central locking and driveway barrier"; "calls and letters"; "enthusiasm and despair"; "drum and bass"; "retention and deportation? and recorded this on tape.

Subsequently, several "Coming and Going" sequences were produced at different locations, the substantives were taken from the context of this specific meeting at this particular place. The opening of the Bachmann competition gave various critics and authors the opportunity to isolate and connect words taken from Bachmann´s work and present them to the public. Grohs, who has also worked in management and advertising agencies, always incorporates a principle of the advertising world: Attention, one inevitably adjusts ? the scene could be read as a "who is who" of the Viennese the art and culture scene ? even if one does not recognize the faces, "Coming and Going", as a whole, consists of redundancies.

The work is to be understood as a continuously extending project that has received attention at the International Videoart Competition (honorable mention), the Austrian Film Festival "Diagonale" and various other exhibitions. Grohs´ interest includes selective literature as well as a kind of interactive social game, he refers to his work in various essays as a" Society Column"; at the same time Grohs attempts, in "Coming and Going", to produce a documentation of textual happenings in a fast forward reading process.
