Lovers´ Walk   Austria   1998

Andrea GERGELY   Oliver HANGL

In "Lover's Walk" a young man wearing a cowboy hat (Oliver Hangl alias Daniel rose) plays a guitar. Standing in the middle of a park. A young woman emerges unexpectedly (?): she flies, hops, and dances like a small bird to its own music.
The camera places her more in the air than on the ground. The young gentleman, overwhelmed by such merry enthusiasm, plays an identical guitar-solo, and finally flies together with the girl.

"Lover's Walk" tries to bring the feelings of sudden love to cellulose and shows, in addition to a typical constellation, a desired human ideal: I want to learn to fly with you or teach me to fly. A latent expectation is fulfilled by coincidental love. Oliver Hangl makes use of, as in many of its films and performances, the fictitious figure Daniel Rose and together with Andrea Gergely merges elements of theater and movies in Lover's Walk, to create fantasy filled cliches. Lover's Walk is one of altogether 18 contributions of the video sampler "sincerely yours", video art in Austria, arranged by Birgit Mollik. (Suess)
